Ross Harrower is North Scottish Alliance champion
By ALAN COWIE
Boat of Garten professional Ross Harrower won the North Scottish Golfers' Alliance Championship fixture at Fortrose & Rosemarkie after John Forbes (Inverness) was unable to make the scheduled play-off.
Forbes posted a five-under-par 66 early on with six birdies and a single dropped shot at the 17th.
Later starter Harrower equalled this mark seven birdies between bogeys at the first and last. Five of his sub-par figures came on the home nine and he was awarded the Sir Hugh Mackenzie Trophy.
Consolation for Forbes was the fact that his net 67, off a handicap of +1, earned him the Bank of Scotland Quaich for victory in the Handicap Class 1.
In Class 2, L Macbean (Boat of Garten), playing off nine, won the Jim Thom Quaich for a net 69.
Jim Simpson (Forres) won the seniors' scratch award, the J A B Little Trophy, with a 72 while A Tait (Fortrose & Rosemarkie), playing off six, took the seniors' handicap prize, the J M C Gourlay Salver with a net 68.
