Law, McLean, Kellett and White are
Scotland four for Sotogrande
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE SCOTTISH GOLF UNION
Scotland’s leading men's amateur golfers will be aiming to add to last year’s European amateur team championship success with a victory in the European Nations Championship which gets underway in Spain later this month (March 17 to 20).
Colville Park’s Ross Kellett is the only player named in the side announced today to feature from the six-man team who defeated England in the European Final in Conwy last July, as the Scots look for their second title in the space of three years at the Copa Real Golf Club in Sotogrande.
Kellett is joined by reigning Scottish Men’s and Boys’ champion David Law (Hazlehead) , 2009 Leven Gold Medal winner Philip McLean (Peterhead) and former Scottish boys' match-play champion James White (Lundin).

All four players will be making their debut in the tournament, formerly named the Sherry Cup.
McLean, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, who finished fourth in the 2009 SGU Order of Merit, is relishing lining up in the championship:
“It’s a real honour to be selected for Scotland in this event and I hope we can build on the recent success our teams have enjoyed in the World and European Championships. We’re all new to this one, but we’ve had a good build up to the season in the States, Portugal and Spain and the boys are well prepared.”
“The championship has a strong history and some great players have taken part over the years, including Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia, as well as Ross Fisher and Richie Ramsay of late. It would be great to follow in their footsteps and doing well would be a good boost for the season ahead,” added the 22-year-old.
Scotland finished 11th in last year’s tournament, having won the title the previous year with a side that featured Callum Macaulay, Wallace Booth, Keir McNicoll and Scott Henry. The best three scores each day contribute to the team score, whilst the event also features an individual championship.
