JAMES BYRNE NOW RANKED NUMBER 35 IN
WORLD - AND THAT'S WITHOUT PLAYING!
Arizona State University student James Byrne from Banchory cannot get a place in his college team of five but he continues to rise in the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings. In the Week 44 re-rankings, Byrne goes up seven places from No 42 to 35, his highest position yet. In the corresponding week in 2008, he was disqualified in a US college tournament. The next highest-ranked Scot is Ross Kellett (Colville Park) who goes down one place to No 54. There is a new No 1 in the WAGR - Frenchman Victor Dubuisson who is promoted two places from last week. Italy's British amateur champion Matteo Manassero gives Europe a 1-2 dominance of the rankings.
