Snap-happy spectator angers Phil
Mickelson, but only for a little while
They don't come more mild mannered among the world's top pro golfers than Phil Mickelson but he blew his top before he finished ninth, five shots behind the winner, Jeev Milka Singh, in the stop-start Singapore Open.
Mickelson's second shot to the 18th hole ended up in a water hazard after a spectator snapped a photograph while the American was in mid-swing.
Not even pro photographers, unless they are standing some distance away with a zoom lens, take action pictures before a player has actually made contact with the ball.
Mickelson's caddie, Jim Mackay, sought out the culprit to give him an earful but that was too late for the world No 3. The hole cost him a bogey at a hole he would normally expect to birdie or at least par.
"That's by far the angriest I've seen him in 16 years," said Mackay behind the 18th green.
Mickelson had regained his composure before speaking to reporters.
"Those things happen unfortunately," said the 38-year-old.Mickelson had rounds of 73, 68, 66 and 75 for a total of 282 - five shots behind the winner.
