Edinburgh & East of Scotland Alliance News
On a fine, sunny, but breezy day, 75 members competed in this week's outing to Bathgate Golf Club.
Stuart Callan, members of staff and club members made us feel very welcome. They looked after, watered and fed us well. A big thank you goes to the greens staff too. I received many comments about the greens which were described as very good and quick paced.
The overall winner of the competition for the Gallacher Trophy was David Patrick representing Elie Golf Club. He shot a fantastic round of 65, six under par, with birdies at the 1st, 5th, 8th, 14th, 15th and 17th holes.
In the scratch section, four shots behind David, was Andrew Marshall (Houstoun GR). Andrew's fine 69 included six birdies, four in the first five holes. Paul Arthur (King's Acre), Kenny Glen (Royal Musselburgh) and Scott Catlin (Greenburn) shared third place with level par rounds of 71.
In the handicap section Derek Fish (Glenbervie), playing off a two handicap, took the honours with a net score of 71. Andrew Rothney (Deer Park), playing off scratch and John Kerr (also Deer Park), playing off three, shot a net 72 for second equal spot. Tied for fourth place were Ron Grant (Baberton) and Peter Ritchie (Bathgate) with net 73s.
I look forward to seeing you at Deer Park Golf and Country Club on the October 15.
