AMATEUR WILLIAM DEWSALL ACHIEVES
HIS FIRST HOLE-IN-ONE AT KINGSBARNS

London-based businessman William Dewsall had his first ever hole-in-one today during the third round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at Kingsbarns, after 30 years playing the game. Dewsall, 47, the CEO of Gable Insurance and Chairman of Golf Management International, struck a 9-iron 133 yards at the eighth hole. Dewsall, who lives in Brentwood, England, and has a home in Spain, was playing with Bradley Dredge, one of the players his company represents.
He said: “It was my caddie’s idea. I was going to use an 8-iron, but he said best hit it with a 9-iron. As it rolled up I thought to myself ‘this stands a chance’ but I was just thinking about putting it from there, and then the next thing was that it just rolled in the hole.
“That was my first hole-in-one and I was absolutely delighted. It was difficult conditions today, but I can’t quibble. It’s such a great pleasure to play with the pros at such a wonderful event. This is my fifth time playing this event. My Dunhill highlight, up until today, was with Bradley in 2006 when we played in the final day four-ball with the eventual winner Padraig Harrington. "That was a great treat, but now I have a new highlight."
Dewsall, who was playing off a handicap of seven in the championship, added; “I thought we might make the cut, but we didn’t really play well enough. I will be back for the final day though – but this time as a spectator, and will be able to relax and enjoy watching the golf.”
