It was a particularly windy day for the Loch Ness September Men's Open with scoring difficult but given these conditions almost all the players took to the challenge and returned a score.
It was no surprise when most of the prizes went to the locals who had experienced these conditions before and indeed Barry Gunn, who won handicap Section II and the trophy for best handicap score, was the only person to break 70 with his net score.
The CSS reflected this and went up two shots for the home players and was reduction only for the away players.
Some of the visitors did master the conditions, especially those in the scratch section. Darren Hexley, the left handed player from Inverness Golf Club, won the scratch prize with an excellent four-over-par 74 and he was closely followed by John Godward (a previous winner) from the McDonald Ellon Golf Club. He shot 75.
Loch Ness’s own club champion 17-year-old Jamie Treasurer took third spot with a 76.
In total 128 players braved the windy weather and all remarked on how well presented he course was and the quickness of the greens.
