Inverness beat Cruden Bay in Northern
Counties Cup final at Tain
Inverness Golf Club won the Northern Counties Cup for an 11th time when they beat Cruden Bay by eight holes in the final at Tain Golf Club today.
The last time the tournament was played at Tain - in 2002 - Inverness, the defending champions, lost to Fortrose & Rosemarkie in the final.
All four Inverness players were in a winning side for the first time - John Forbes, David Sanderson, former Scotland international Ewan Forbes and Alan Cameron.
In the final, the Inverness first string of John Forbes and Sanderson finished three up on Cruden Bay's Michael Buchan and Jim Smith.
In the tie between the string strings, Ewan Forbes and Cameron of Inverness finished five up on Ross Cooper and Keith Martin.
In the morning semi-finals, Inverness had scored a surprisingly runaway win - by 13 holes - over Royal Aberdeen, and, in contrast, Cruden Bay squeezed through at the 19th against Forres.
