Cawder's Chris Kelly, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, repeated his opening five-under-par 65 which had seen him in second place overnight but this time it was good enough to see him win the £989 first prize in the Callaway/Audi 36-hole tournament at Falkirk Tryst Golf Club today.
With first-round leader Jason McCreadie (Buchanan Castle) bogeying the last three holes for a 70 (34-36) and a total of 133, Kelly's 10-under-par tally of 130 gave him victory by one shot from Edward Thomson (Senit Associates) and Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs Golf Range).
Kelly's figures did differ from the first day in that he kept a bogey off his card in the second round as well as birdieing the first, sixth, 10th, 15th and 17th in halves of 33 and 32.
Thomson came storming through with four birdies in an outward half of 31. Although he had four more birdies on an inward 33 for a 64 for 131, bogeys at the 11th and 17th meant he would fall just short of overhauling Kelly.
Arnott tied with Thomson after a 65 which was bogey-free and had birdies at the fourth, eighth, 15th, 16th and 18th in halves of 33 and 32. The joint runners-up each won £841.
Fourth-placed McCreadie earned £692.
Downfield's Kenny Hutton disqualified himself for practice putting on one green in the second round after he hole had been completed. This is contrary to PGA Scottish Region rules.
The fifth and last of the Callaway/Audi series will be held at Dundonald Links on October 8 and 9.
