Jack Steven hoping to have some fun
at the PGA Super 60s' tournament

Jack Steven is travelling to the PGA Super 60s Tournament near Scunthorpe, aiming to have fun as well as be competitive.
The Scot has retired from competitive golf but is turning out at Forest Pines Golf Course in Lincolnshire on August 27 to take part in the 36-hole tournament for professionals aged 60 and over.
The event is played in pairs on a better-ball basis and offers a chance to catch up with old friends and rivals from down the years.
“I haven’t played in any tournaments at all this year,” said Steven, “This is the one and only I’m playing, so who knows? I’ll go down and have a bit of fun.”
Steven admits that the course and the nature of the tournament appeal to him.
“It’s a good tournament, I was quite taken by it when I played last year.”
Steven has been practising his game, but acknowledges that does not always lead to success.
“I’m playing okay but at the end of the day golf is different every time you tee off. The key at Forest Pines is to hit the fairways and make the putts - that usually works!”
The PGA Super 60s started back in 1994, with Keith MacDonald and Ralph Pickering winning the inaugural event at Selsdon Park. Ex-Ryder Cup players Bernard Hunt and Lionel Platts are also among former winners.
After being played at Rudding Park for all but one of the last eight years, the championship has a new venue at Forest Pines in Lincolnshire.
Last year Iain Clark and Colin Day took the title with a tournament score of 138.Steven will be competing for a share of the £10,000 prize money which is on offer.
