Fraser McKenna biggest Scottish
winner as British Boys tees off
Scotland international team players James Ross and Stuart Ballingall cleared their first-round hurdles on the opening day of the British boys' championship at Little Aston, near Birmingham.
Anglo-Scott Ballingall had a one-hle win over Glen Portelli (Herts) while Edinburgh teenager Ross was a bit more convincing. He won by 4 and 2 over Danny Keddie (Lincolnsire).
Fraser McKenna (Balmore) won by 7 and 5 over Steve Jones and Josh Anderson progressed with a one-hole win over Philip Winter from the United States.
Adam Dunton (McDonald Ellon) scraped through at the 20th against Liam Brace (Suffolk) but Scottish schoolboys champion Chris Robb (Inchmarlo) lost by 3 and 2 to Adam Galbraith from Sussex.
Mark Bookless, winner recently of the Scottish boys stroke-play title at Blairgowrie, comes into the championship today (Tuesday) alongwith Hazlehead's David Law, and other international team-mates, Sam Binning and Kyle Smith.
