NORTH-EAST PAIR DROP LATE
SHOTS IN TALLAHASSEE
COLLEGE TOURNAMENT
Scott Larkin (Charleston College) from Banchory and Oldmeldrum's Lewis Kirton (Louisville) were lying joint 25th and 47th respectively in a field of 63 after the first round of the 54-hole Seminole Intercollegiate golf tournament at Golden Eagle Country Club, Tallahassee in Florida.
Larkin, pictured right, had birdies at the second, fourth and 10th but dropped shots at the 16th and 17th in returning a one-over-par 73 over the 7,041yd course.
Kirton recovered from a double bogey 6 at the second with birdies at the fourth, ninth and 12th but, like Larkin, he shed shots at the difficult 16th and 17th holes and finished on four-over 76.
Jonas Blixt (Florida State) and Steven Rojas (Virginia) shared the lead by two shots on 68.
