ALLIED SURVEYORS BUILD ON SUCCESS OF SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Scottish Golf Union has agreed a new sponsorship deal with Allied Surveyors which will see the Scottish Amateur Championship boosted by £100,000 over the next three years.
The new agreement, announced at The Golf Lounge in Glasgow, will take Allied Surveyors partnership with the Scottish Golf Union to six years, having first sponsored the event back in 2005.
The deal includes exclusive headline sponsorship of the Scottish Amateur Championship at Carnoustie in 2008 and Royal Troon in 2009, with confirmation of the 2010 venue expected soon. Allied Surveyors sponsored the last three championships at Southerness, Nairn and
Prestwick, which saw leading Scots amateurs Glenn Campbell, Kevin McAlpine and John Gallagher clinch the national crown.
"We are delighted to be continuing our very successful partnership with the Scottish Golf Union and amateur golfers across Scotland which has brought many benefits to our company over the last three years." said Ian Thomson, Managing Director for Allied Surveyors Scotland.
"The Scottish Amateur Championship is a fantastic event, one which draws interest across the whole country. With two world class venues in Carnoustie and Royal Troon playing hosts over the next two years, the Championship will continue to prosper which can only be good for the
growth and profile of Allied Surveyors." he added.
Allied Surveyors are one of Scotland's' leading Chartered Surveying companies, having 36 offices in Scotland alone and 160 offices throughout the UK.
"Allied Surveyors have been fantastic supporters of Scottish golf over the past three years. The £100,000 investment will be used to grow our flagship championship and allow us to continue to improve our programme of developing golfing talent in Scotland." said Ross Duncan, the SGU's Marketing & Sponsorship Manager.
"The value of our sponsorships continues to grow and it's vital to the success of Scottish golf that leading companies such as Allied Surveyors invest in the grass roots of the game. We are now in a position to offer a great benefits package and hopefully more companies will come on board in the season ahead." he added.
The 2008 Allied Surveyors Scottish Amateur Championship takes place at Carnoustie's Championship Links from Monday 28 July through to Saturday 2 August. Last year's event was won by John Gallagher (Swanston New) who defeated Keir McNicoll in the final. McNicoll is a Carnoustie member and the 23-year-old Scotland international will be hoping to go one better on his home course this summer.
Other former winners of the event include Colin Montgomerie (1987), Stephen Gallagher (1992), Dean Robertson (1993) and Steven O'Hara (2000).
Allied Surveyors will also continue to be the SGU's recommended supplier of professional property services to SGU members.
