Inverness Fairways Target Leagues News

By NEIL HAMPTON

Trilight, as expected, secured their first ever league title on Monday
night and are still the only undefeated team in the Spring Target Golf.
However their feat maybe overshadowed by the unique situation just
below them in the table. All remaining 6 teams are tied on the same
number of points with just one game to go!

A highly unusual circumstance where every team is still in with a chance of qualifying
for the play-offs. With the first deciding factor after points being
shots scored (not shots difference) the Specialists are the team in
pole position as they are sitting second in the league with a total of
309 shots scored. They have the luxury of the bye next week so should
be guaranteed the 2 points as long as they score at least one shot.
Just behind them are Northern Ironmongery who have scored a total of
273 shots, 36 less than the Specialists which means that they would
have to score at least 37 more than the Specialists, and win their
game, in order to leap frog the Specialists into second place.

The Juniors are 4th (after losing to the Ironmongers this week) and now
with a difference of 65 shots between them and the Specialists it would
take an exceptional score for them to move into a playoff place.
Likewise BM Trucks, who lost to the Underdogs, Fairhurst Fore, who beat
the Specialists, and the Underdogs themselves have such poor shots
scored records that they will not be putting the Play Off date in their
diary.

As the Ironmongers are playing Trilight next week it looks like
the Specialists are favourite for the Playoff place – but stranger
things have happened!!

Results
Fairhurst Fore 22 – 18 Specialists; BM Trucks 18 – 49 The Underdogs;
Northern Ironmongery 66 – 56 Loch Ness Juniors; Trilight (Bye) 42.

TUESDAY LEAGUE
The Tuesday league is taking more of a shape about it as the top 2
teams won again and stretched their lead as their main pursuer got
beat. It is the Luckless Leadbetters maintain the top spot courtesy of
their better shot scored record over the Grumps as both are tied on 10
points. Raigmore Motel were chasing hard but, in what could be their
definitive game of the season, they faced up to the Leadbetters and
fell short by 16 shots.

The Grumps saw off Fairways whose miserable form continues as they had the lowest score of the night and their
lowest score of the season. In any game the Grumps total would not have
been good enough as they too failed to impress. The Old Swingers moved
up to join Raigmore as they conquered the Coastguards who put up a
sterling effort and seem to be improving albeit slowly. Still 4 games
to go but next week the top two face each other and this game could
decide the league title.

Results
Fairways 22 – 30 Grumps; Luckless Leadbetter's 62 – 46; Raigmore Motel;
Coastguards 42 – 59 Old Swingers.
