US PGA Tour Final Qualifying School in California

MARTIN LAIRD ON BORDERLINE
WITH TWO ROUNDS TO GO

Martin Laird from Glasgow, pictured right, is on the highwire in the US PGA Tour Final Qualifying School. If he can keep his balance over the final two rounds at La Quinta, California he might just sneak into the top 30 who will gain fully playing rights for next year on the world's most lucrative pro golf circuit.
The former Scottish youths champion and American college circuit player while a Colorado State University student has had rounds of 73, 70, 70 and 70 for five-under-par 283. He is in joint 31st place alongside Germany's Alex Cejka.
Laird hadn eagle 3 at the long fifth and birdies at the second, eighth, 12th and 17th. Unfortunately, he had a double bogey 6 at the ninth and single bogeys at the 10th and 18th in halves of 34 and 36.
Irishman Keith Nolan has taken over as the leading European. Keith had a fourth-round 68 for 280.
Overnight leader Paul Gow (Australia) tumbled down to a share of eighth place with a 75 for 278.
Two Americans are sharing the pole position on 14-under-par 274 - 30-year-old Michael Boyd, who caddied in this event not all that long ago and has been playing mainly on the NGA Hooters Tour, and Rich Barcello.
