Sun City Challenge tournament in South Africa

FURYK FINISHES WITH A 74 BUT
WINS BY TWO FROM STENSON

World No 2 Jim Furyk, pictured left, made a successful defence of the Nedbank Golf Challenge title over the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City in South Africa's Northwest Province - despite a last round of two-over-par 74 for a 12-under-par total of 276.
Jim got away with it because his nearest overnight rival, Ireland's Padraig Harrington, did even worse than the American in the last round - a 75 for 280. So Furyk won in the end by two shots from the early tournament leader, Ryder Cup Swede Henrik Stenson (69-278).
It's been a record season for Jim Furyk. He finished second on the US PGA Tour money table and his first prize at Sun City of $1.2million boosted his worldwide earnings in 2006 to $8.5million.
The Sunshine Tour organisers revealed that two players in the select field had been fined £1,000 Rand ($138) each for throwing clubs - Sergio Garcia in the first round and Ernie Els in round three.
