KARYN DALLAS “TGOLF” IS
BIG SUCCESS IN SCOTLAND

Tgolf, a golf development programme based on training for Ladies European Tour professionals, is proving a phenomenal success in Scotland.
Tgolf, short for Total Golf, is run by former Ladies European Tour professional Karyn Dallas at Kirriemuir Golf Club in Angus and has grown in size from just 60 juniors to more than 250 in only three years.
Tgolf founder Karyn Dallas, pictured right, said: “When I left the Ladies European Tour and became a full-time coach, I wanted to help develop the game at grass roots and junior level in Scotland.
“I studied and researched the training programmes of top professionals and adapted them into a fun progressive coaching programme for juniors.”
Tgolf has proved so successful that Karyn Dallas has a virtually zero drop-out rate among her 250 junior pupils, and at the elite level has coached Ladies European Tour player Lynn Kenny from Dunblane.
In 2006, two Tgolf pupils, Jenna Wilson and Heather MacRae, attended the LET School in the hope of making it into the professional ranks, while Pamela Feggans is aiming to secure a Futures Tour card in the United States.
GAME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME
Tgolf is a structured, 15-week game improvement programme with a five-tier support structure that groups pupils of similar age. Pupils play games and learn in small teams and are encouraged to support each other in learning key golf skills.
“Our first priority for juniors is to ensure they enjoy the games and have fun, after that they have the opportunity to learn to play golf in a safe, fun and supportive environment,”said Dallas. “The programme has generated interest from other Scottish professionals with Jason Boyd, professional at Montrose Golf Club, starting his own junior coaching programme based on the Tgolf system.”
Boyd has watched his pupil numbers increase to more than 200 in the first two years, and says he now finds it easy to coach such large numbers.
“Tgolf is a much easier way to keep children interested in golf than traditional lessons. I’m now going into primary schools in four-week spells, teaching Tri-golf and many of the kids can’t wait to sign up for the Tgolf programme,” said Jason Boyd.
At regional level, Tgolf has proved so successful that the top ten spots in the latest Angus County Boys Order of Merit were taken by pupils of KarynDallas, (spots one to eight), and Jason Boyd (nine and ten).
About Tgolf
Tgolf, the Total Golf program, is the product of research carried out by Karyn Dallas, former Ladies European Tour player and Scottish National Coach, in 1994.
Karyn Dallas analysed the behaviour and methods of top golf professionals and adapted them to specifically assist in the coaching of juniors from beginner through to elite level.
Tgolf is not a single rigid teaching method. It’s a holistic approach to golf coaching that covers every aspect of a golfer’s development. It allows other professionals to teach in their own style while adopting the structure of the programme. It is flexible and based on monitoring systems so that improvements can be recorded and analysed.
The programme, developed at Kirriemuir Golf Club in Angus, has 250 students, taught between 4 and 7 pm Monday to Friday. Tgolf benefits from the assistance of 30 leaders or adults who devote their spare time to help run games and support sessions for the coaching programmes.
