European Challenge Tour tees off in South America

JOINT 11TH IN FIRST
ARGENTINA ROUND
Scots Peter Whiteford and Jamie McLeary, pictured right, were in joint 11th place on one-over-par 72 at the end of the first round in the opening event of the new European Challenge Tour season – the Campeonata Abierto Visa de la Republica at Pilar Golf Club near Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Whiteford was one under par after 12 holes but dropped two shots in the closing stages.
McLeary was under par for his first nine holes.
Former Scottish amateur champion George Murray, making his professional debut, had a 75.
Mark Tullo from Chile led the big field with a four-under-par 67.
