European Challenge Tour starts in Argentina
WHITEFORD, McLEARY AND
MURRAY MAKE THE CUT
All three Scots made the halfway cut in the first event of the new European Challenge Tour season – the Campeonata Abierto Visa de la Republica at Pilar Golf Club, Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Fifer Peter Whiteford, pictured right, is the best placed in joint 22nd place after rounds of 72 and 75 for 147.
Jamie McLeary from Kinross and debutant professional George Murray from Fife made it through, right on the limit mark of eight-over-par 150, which is high by Challenge Tour standards.
Jamie had scores of 72 and 78 while George had a pair of 75s. They go into the two rounds in joint 57th position.
The new leader, by three strokes, is Ricardo Gonzalez with 69 and 70 for three-over-139.
