SENIOR MEN'S HOME INTERNATIONALS

JOHN JOHNSTON MAKES WINNING DEBUT
FOR SCOTLAND SENIORS AT DUNBAR

Royal Aberdeen’s John Johnston made a winning debut for senior Scotland when he and Donald McCart beat Keith Stimpson and John Whitcutt of Wales in the third foursome of the opening morning of the Senior Men’s Home Internationals at Dunbar.
Johnston played for Scotland in the home internationals of 1970 and 1971 but had not worn his country’s colours since.
Scotland finished the morning with a 2-1 lead thanks to the efforts of McCart and Johnston who finished one up.
Earlier Gordon MacDonald and Alan Ferguson had lost by 3 and 1 to Brian Cramb and Basil Griffiths, while Stephen Ellis and Brian Grieve had levelled it at 1-1 overall. They beat Phil Jones and Mike Rooke by 4 and 3.
