GRAHAM GORDON GETS IT
GOING WITH INWARD HALF
OF 31 AT UFFORD PARK
Aberdeen’s Graham Gordon had a sparkling inward half of 31 to complete a two-under-par first-round score of 68 in the MCP Classic – this week’s PGA EuroPro Tour event – at Ufford Park Golf Club, Suffolk.
Graham will start the second round in joint sixth place, two strokes behind joint leaders Michael McDermott (Ireland) and Englishman John Morgan.
Gordon, pictured right, birdied the first, ninth, 11th and 16th. He contained his bogeys to the outward half, shedding a shot at the fourth and the eighth in 37 to the turn.
Cawder pro Chris Kelly is in joint 12th place with a 60 which included an eagle 2 at the seventh in halves of 35 and 34.
Graeme Brown from Montrose, South Wales-based Paul Doherty and Ricky Gray (Torrance House) are sharing 31st place on one-over-par 71.
Graeme had a double bogey 6 at the fourth in an outward 37.
Paul and Ricky both had double-bogey 7s at the 18th in inward 37s.
The top 50 and ties after Thursday’s second round will qualify for the final round in this £40,000 event.
