LPGA QUALIFYING TEST

VIKKI SURVIVES CUT IN FLORIDA

Musselburgh’s Vikki Laing, pictured right, is having yet another try at making it back on the LPGA Tour in the United States.
The US-based former Curtis Cup player and successful American college circuit student, failed to qualify for the Final Q School at a recent sectional eliminator in California but that did not rule her out of entering the next qualifying test, at Plantation Golf and Country Club, Venice in Florida this week.
The leading 30 and ties will go forward to the Final LPGA Qualifying School at Daytona Beach, Florida from November 29 to December 3.
It’s so far so good this week for the 25-year-old Vikki who has had rounds of 74 and 71 for a halfway tally of one-over-par 145. She is lying joint fourth behind American Tara Bateman from Arizona (71+70=141).
A total of 73 players with 36-hole aggregates of nine-over-par 153 and better survived the cut on a windy Wednesday.
Two English-born players who made the cut alongwith Vikki Laing were Jo Clingan from Gloucester and Polly Willett from London.
Jo had scores of 77 and 74 for 151 while Polly made it through with nothing to spare on 153 after 73 and 80.
