DUNCAN STEWART AND RUSSELL KNOX IN
LEADING FIVE OF
SOUTH CAROLINA
TOURNAMENT
Scots Duncan Stewart, pictured right, from Grantown on Spey and Russell Knox from Inverness, both golf scholarship students at Jacksonville University, Florida, are in the top five after 36 holes of the RDG Intercollegiate tournament at Florence, South Carolina.
Stewart, bidding for a fourth win on the American college circuit, has had rounds of 69 and 71 for four-under-par 140 and is in second place in the field of 95, one shot behind leader Jordy Hayden (Troy), with one round to go.
Knox has scored 74 and 68 to be lying fifth on 142.
Jamie Kennedy from Edinburgh, a third Scot in the Jacksonville team, has not done so well. He is in 92nd place on 162 after scores of 78 and 84.
Troy and Jacksonville are sharing the team leadership on 574 – seven ahead of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
+During their summer holidays back home, Stewart won the Chiberta Grand Prix in France while Knox played for Scotland in the European youth team championships in Spain.
