ROSS-SHIRE LEAGUE FINALS

ALNESS WIN HIGHLANG FABRICATORS' CUP

Two members of Alness Golf Club, Colin Munro and Craig Taylor, who played when Alness in 1988 had their only previous success in the Ross –shire Singles League, were again in the line-up when they won the cup for only the second time at Invergordon today, beating the holders, Muir of Ord, in the final.
Alness team captain, Colin Taylor, Craig Taylor and Graham Bowles were unbeaten over the weekend as Alness beat Fortrose & Rosemarkie in the semi-final before lining up against Muir of Ord in the final.
Richard Woods won the last two holes to beat former North youths champion Darren Hexley in the top game. Then Taylor and Bowles brought in the next two points to secure the Highland Fabricators' Cup.

R Woods lost to M MacDonald 2&1, C Taylor beat A Brown 1 hole, G Bowles beat R Mackay 3&1, D Stevenson halved with K Gaitens, C P Munro beat B Main 3&1.
Muir of Ord 3, Strathpeffer Spa 2
J Forbes beat M Mackenzie 4&3, D Hexley beat D Morrison 5&4, A Begg lost to M McNab 4&3, B Weatherall beat M. Sloggie 6&5, G. Mellis lost to D. Krzyzanowsk 2 holes.
Final
Alness 4, Muir of Ord 1
Woods beat Hexley 2 holes, Taylor beat Mellis 4&3, Bowles beat Weatherall 2&1, Stevenson lost to Begg 1 hole, Munro beat Forbes 2&1.
