NORTH-EAST ALLIANCE

GARY GLITTERS AT KEMNAY TO WIN ALLIANCE BY
THREE SHOTS WITH 68

Portlethen +2 amateur Gary Esson shot a three-under-par 68 in far-from-easy blustery conditions to win today’s North-east Golfers’ Alliance competition at Kemnay Golf Club by four strokes.
Early starter Esson highlighted his scorecard with an eagle 3 at the 502yd 15th hole. He also birdied the second, third, fourth and 11th in two halves fo 34. Gary had only one bogey on his card, at the sixth, until he dropped shots at the 16th and 18th.
Joint second on 72 in a field of 85 were two more amateurs, Andrew Campbell (Deeside) and Billy Main (Murcar Links), and Banchory assistant professional Stuart Davidson.
North-east Golfers' Alliance secretary Ron Menzies would be delighted to welcome new members at any of the Wednesday competitions. The annual subscription is £40 and it costs £12 to play in a competition.
