NEWLANDS TROPHY

BREAKTHROUGH 72-HOLE WIN FOR
SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD BYRNE
James Byrne, 17-year-old Great Britain & Ireland boy international from Banchory, scored his first Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit 72-hole tournament win at Lanark Golf Club today.
James, the halfway leader by a clear margin, went on to win by four strokes with scores of 68, 66, 71 and 66 - the par is 70 - for a nine-under-par total of 271.
Chris Orr (Lanark) was second with 71, 67, 73 and 64 for 275.
Two players tied for third place on 280 - Scott Borrowman (Dollar) with 70, 70, 71 and 69 as well as David McMillan (Lanark) 71 69 69 72.
