MURRAYFIELD PRO-AM

CRAIG LEE EQUALS MURRAYFIELD
RECORD DESPITE A DOUBLE-BOGEY

Craig Lee equalled the Murrayfield course record with a seven-under-par round of 63 in the Bell Lawrie/Murrayfield Golf Club pro-am today.
Lee came to the par-5 last needing a birdie to beat the record but had to be content with a par figure.
Amazingly, his scorecard included a double-bogey at the sixth where he lost a ball.
He had nine birdies in all - at the first, second, fourth, seventh, eighth, 12th,14th, 15th and 16th in halves of 31 (three under par) and 32 (four under par).
The former Scottish assistants champion won the £1,500 first prize by two shots from a group of five players – Steven Gray, Paul Arthur, Mark King, Mark Loftus and Tim Mitchell.
David Park (Wishaw) led the amateur team of Stephen Thurlow (handicap 16), Gerry O’Neil (18) and Brian Smith (12) to victory with a net score of 17-under-par 53.
