HUGH CLUNAS SURVIVES LATE TRIPLE BOGEY
TO WIN NORTH SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP

Hugh Clunas (Nairn Dunbar) won the Macallan North District Seniors Championship at Torvean Golf Club, Inverness today with a one over par score of 69 (33-37), one under the CSS.
Clunas birdied the fourth, seventh and eighth holes and then the 12th before running up a triple bogey 7 at the 16th. He held on to win by one shot from Fraser Urquhart (Inverness) and Peter Saggers (Nairn).
Saggers had the halfway lead after a super outward half of 31. More birdies followed before the the 15th and 16th holes cost him the championship. A visit to the pond at the short 16th was followed by two lost balls at the next holes to drop seven shots against the par of 3-4
Fraser Urquhart bogeyed the last in halves of 34 and 37.
