EUROPEAN TOUR QUALIFYING STAGE
ONLY 6 SCOTS HAVE CHANCE OF MAKING
IT THROUGH TO NEXT STAGE IN SPAIN
Only six of the Scots who have one round left to play at St Annes Old Links in the First Qualifying Stage of the European Tour School have a reasonable chance of figuring among the leading 30 players and ties, at the end of Friday’s final 18 holes, who will go forward to the Second Qualifying Stage at four Spanish venues from November 1 to 4.
They are Scott Henderson, pictured right, Craigielaw amateur Lloyd Saltman, Fife amateur George Murray, South Wales-based Jack Doherty, Craig Sutherland and Graeme Brown.
At the moment, after three rounds, there are 34 players at seven-under-par 209 or better.
Oliver Fisher, the youngest-ever Walker Cup player from West Essex, shot a brilliant nine-under-par 63 to take over the No 1 spot after 54 holes with a tally of 20-under-par 196.
He leads by two shots from the previous leader Simon Thornton (Ireland) with Scott Henderson moving up into third place on 1999 with a 64, his best round so far.
