ENGLISH VICTORIES AT CARNOUSTIE

PYE WINS CRAW’S NEST TASSIE AFTER
ALL-ENGLISH FINAL AT CARNOUSTIE

James Pye from Preston won the Craw’s Nest Tassie week-long amateur golf tournament over the Carnoustie championship links today (Saturday).
He beat Stephen Brooks (Blyth) by one hole in the final.
In the morning semi-finals, Pye had knocked out the remaining Scot, Aaron Sweeney (Carnoustie) by 5 and 3 while Brooks beat Ian Kearney (West Lacs) by 4 and 2.
The Maulesbank Trophy, played under handicap over the Burnside course, was also won by an Englishman. Digby Holman (South Herts) beat Ian Beckett (Preston) 5 and 4 in the final.

CRAW’S NEST TASSIE – Carnoustie links –
Semi-finals – J Pye (Preston) bt A Sweeney (Carnoustie) 5 and 3, S Brooks (Blyth) bt I Kearney (West Lancs) 4 and 2. Final – Pye bt Brooks 1 hole.
MAULESBANK TROPHY - Burnside
Semi-finals – D Holman (South Herts) bt T Dixon (Bawtry) at 21st, I Beckett (Preston) bt A Cameron (Pitreavie) 2 and 1. Finla – Holman bt Beckett 5 and 4.
