AARON COULD BE LOCAL HERO IN
CRAW’S NEST TASSIE
Local man Aaron Sweeney is Scotland’s last hope of keeping the Craw’s Nest Tassie out of the hands of the English over the Carnoustie championship links on Saturday.
Aaron, a one-handicap member of Carnoustie Golf Club, will play James Pye, a +2 player from Preston, in the first semi-final.
The other is an all-England encounter between scratch player Stephen Brooks (Byth) and two-handicapper. Ian Kearney (West Lancashire).
Allen Cameron from Pitreavie is under the same pressure in the semi-finals of the handicap tournament for the Maulesbank Trophy, played over the Burnside course.
Allen, an eight-handicapper, plays Ian Beckett (Preston) (9) while Timothy Dixon (Bawtry), who plays off 15, meets Digby Holman (South Herts) (12) in the second semi-final.
