NEWS AND SCORES FROM SCHAWPARK

JAMIE’S ACE PUTS HIM TO THE TOP
OF THE PACK IN SCOTTISH BOYS

Jamie Mackay from Kilmarnock Barassie had a stroke of luck - or was it a stroke of brilliance? - to take a one-shot clubhouse lead on the second day of the Scottish boys' open amateur stroke-play championship over Alloa Golf Club's Schawpark course.
Jamie had his first-ever hole in one at the 162yd seventh hole on his way to a second-round 67. That represented a four-stroke improvement for a 36-hole tally of two-under-par 138 and assured him of a place among the 40 (and ties) qualifiers who will go forward to contest Thursday’s final round in the 54-hole event.
Overnight leader Shaun McAllister (Craigielaw) with a 64 was one of the later starters.
