XLTEC PRO GOLF TOUR

E-mail from Chris Turner, 110sport.com

It is with much regret that I advise you that the proposed Xltec Pro Golf Tour events at The Roxburghe will not be going ahead. These have been cancelled. This is due to lack of numbers and it would not be in the best interest of the members for this event to go ahead.
It is very disappointing but we do appreciate the time of year and that many of you have probably had enough golf for this season and are now looking forward to a break in the winter.
In light of this, we are now looking at staging six to seven XLtep Pro Golf Tour events in 2011 with the final one being held on the same week as The Open Championship in July.
We feel that after July, there are plenty of opportunities for Professionals to play and we have taken the view that judging by the entries this year, there is no real value in us trying to host tournaments after July.
Although we have still to make a final decision on this, we are looking at possibly the following months to stage events in 2011:

Late March - 1 event
April - 2 events
May - 1 event
June - 2 events
July - 1 event

We would also appreciate any feedback or ideas you may have to help make the tour the success we believe it can be. We are speaking to additional sponsors who have shown interest in getting involved with a view to offering increased prize funds for 2011.

In the meantime, thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you all next year, if not before.

Kind Regards,

Chris

Xltec PRO GOLF TOUR AT THE ROXBURGHE

October 11-12

FROM CHRIS TURNER
We are now accepting entries for the final Xltec Pro Golf Tour event for 2010. This will take place at The Roxburghe in the Scottish Borders on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th October.
Given the venue and the time of year, play will begin at 10.30am on both days.
As we had to cancel the last event at Mar Hall due to low entries and late withdrawals , we have put a closing date on The Roxburghe at midday on Friday 1st October.
This will allow The Roxburghe to release the tee times back to their business should we not receive enough entries. There will be absolutely no late entries accepted after 12 noon on the 1st October as we have an obligation that day to give to The Roxburghe, as to whether the event will be going ahead or not.
I do hope to see you there and we can finish off the season with one more successful event.
Please contact me should you wish to enter.

Xltec Tour's Third Event = First Round

HENDERSON, McNICOLL SHARE NEW RECORD

OF 67 AT REVAMPED WESTERWOOD

Aberdeen’s Scott Henderson (Kings Links) and Keir McNicoll from Carnoustie) share the lead at the halfway stage of the third event on the Xltec Pro Golf Tour.
Both men carded four-under-par 67s at the recently redesigned Westerwood Hotel course at Cumbernauld.
Scott and Keir will be recognised as joint holders of the new record for the course originally designed by Seve Ballesteros in the mid-1980s.
Henderson had a best of the day inward half of six-under-par 30 which included six consecutive 3s. One of them, at the par-5 14th, was an eagle.
Joint third on 68 are Greig Hutcheon (Banchory), Stephen Gray (Hayston) and John Gallagher (Swanston New).
Corisande Lee from West Lancashire is heading the chase for the “leading lady” bonus award at the end of 36 holes. She had a 74, just on ahead of Kyle Walker and Keir McNicoll’s sister Katy.
Tour organisers Alan Tait and Nigel Scott-Smith posted scores of 73 and 77 respectively.
The last three-ball to tee off at 9.57 am Thursday will be Gallagher, Henderson and McNicoll.

KIMBERLEY CROOKS WINS LEADING LADY'S £400 PRIZE

A three way tie took place for 1st place between Scott Henderson and past winners Greig Hutcheon and Chris Kelly, in the third Xltec Pro Golf Tour event at Dalmahoy. Henderson had a one stroke lead with two holes to play over Hutcheon, and a two stroke cushion over Kelly.
However, both Hutcheon and Kelly birdied the par 3 17th and then Kelly holed a 20ft birdie putt on the tough par 4 18th to tie things up between the three Xltec Tour regulars.
Ladies European Tour player Kimberley Crooks won the ladies event with a 147 total, giving her a four- stroke win over England’s Tracey Boyes. Miss Crooks picked up the £400 ladies bonus money.

NEXT XLTEC PRO TOUR EVENT - open to ALL male and female professionals - will be held over the Westerwood Hotel course, Cumbernauld on July 28 and 29.

CHRIS KELLY (62) LEADS BY ONE FROM HUTCHEON, BROWN

In form Chris Kelly makes the running again in the Xltec Pro Golf Tour Event at Dalmahoy. The Cawder man had seven birdies in total, with his only blemish at the par 4 4th, for a 6 under par 62, over the resort “West” course. Hard on his heels is Challenge Tour regular Greig Hutcheon with a 5 under 63 which included a ball out of bounds at the relatively short par 4, 15th. Making his first appearance this year, East Renfrewshire’s David Orr was 5 under par with 3 holes left to play but found water twice on the par 3, 16th which resulted in a quadruple bogey 7 and finished on level par 68.
Keir McNicoll's younger sister Katy, last year's North of Scotland women's amateur champion, had the best ladies' score of the day - a level par 68 over a course 10 per cent shorter than that being played by the men.
There is a £400 bonus prize for the "leading lady" after 36 holes. Katy's main challenger for that reward is England's Kimberley Crooks with a 69.
Miss McNicoll's father, owner of the Carnoustie Golf Shop, was one of the 12 donors of £200 towards the "leading lady" bonus prize which is a feature of all the Xltec Tour events.
The second and final round will be over The Championship East Course
