Ian Poulter in lead-off pairing for Europe

against Asia in Eurasia Cup at Kuala Lumpur

EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Ian Poulter has been pitted in the familiar role of Europe’s frontman for the opening day of the EURASIA CUP
Captain Darren Clarke has entrusted Poulter and playing partner Bernd Wiesberger with delivering an early point for the away team when the Friday morning fourballs get underway at 8.35am at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, in Kuala Lumpur.
Poulter boasts a formidable Ryder Cup record, having accrued 13 points from five appearances in the biennial contest, and the Englishman is again relishing his role as Europe’s go-to guy this week.
The pair will go up against a familiar foe in Anirban Lahiri, who won two European Tour titles last term, and his partner Jeunghun Wang of South Korea.
The second match sees Yorkshiremen Danny Willett and Matt Fitzpatrick come up against Byeong-hun An and Thongchai Jaidee, who captained Asia in the first edition of this event in 2014, before Victor Dubuisson and Søren Kjeldsen meet Danny Chia and Nicholas Fung in match three.
England’s Ross Fisher and Swede Kristoffer Broberg will make their EURASIA CUP bows against Prayad Marksaeng and K.T. Kim at 9.20am, before last year’s WGC–Bridgestone Invitational winner Shane Lowry and Andy Sullivan face Wu Ashun and Japan’s Shingo Katayama.
Ryder Cup star Lee Westwood and fellow Englishman Chris Wood come up against Kiradech Aphibarnrat and SSP Chawrasia in the last of the morning’s matches at 9.50am.
Darren Clarke’s European team will be looking to lift the trophy for the first time after the inaugural event ended in a 10-10 tie two years ago.
Player and Captain Quotes
Ian Poulter: “When you get a good group of guys together, ten guys last time, 12 this time; there's something about being able to have other teammates around to be able to talk to, to be able to laugh and joke with, and also to be able to gain a lot of experience. This EurAsia Cup is something that means a lot to both teams and it certainly means a lot to these European players.
“The reason why I certainly like Ryder Cup and obviously this format is because it's the purest form of golf. It's match play. You see your opponent right in the face and you can go out there and you can make a difference: You can hole a chip shot; you can hole a bunker shot; you can hole a long putt; you can turn a match around. In stroke-play events, that doesn't really happen, but in match play, it does. The second you hit that first tee shot, you want to get your opponent off the golf course as soon as possible. This format really excites me.”
Darren Clarke: “Obviously we all know Poults. We know what he brings to the team. We know what he brings to the team room. And to have him leading off Europe, we couldn't ask for a better player. With Bernd, you've got a very, very young, exciting talent, who won The French Open last year, on one of our most difficult golf courses and won comfortably; a very strong pairing. I could say the same about everyone.
“You go down to Danny and Fitz, two young guys and everybody has been playing wonderful in practise. Victor and Soren, Ross and Chris, and finishing off with Lee and Woody is a very strong pairing, as well. There isn't one pairing there that stands out to be stronger than anything else.
" The team have been, as I said, wonderful to work with this week. It's been a pleasure for me to try and figure a few things out. I have had a few ideas and so far they are listening to me. I feel very fortunate and humble that I am their captain this week.”

SUMMARY FROM AUSTRALIAN GOLF   WEBSITE
Victorian Blake Collyer further enhanced his reputation for cutting down higher-ranked opponents to advance to the Australian amateur championship second round of match-play today.
Collyer utilised local knowledge to beat second seed Anthony Quayle two-up in a high-class first round duel that continued right to Metropolitan's 18th green.
"It was a really good match, we both played really well. I guess, I sank some putts when I needed to,'' the victor said.
It's a repeat scenario for Collyer after he saved par from a greenside bunker at the 10th hole in the morning to survive a play-off just to make the 64-man matchplay field.
A member of Metropolitan's pennant team, he cut it fine in a similar qualifying rounds play-off in last year's national championships at The Australian before knocking out a high seed in the first round on his way to the last 16.
"I guess knowing the course really helped me. It gave me some confidence and I felt good out there,'' he said.
On his chances of advancing further this time, Collyer said: "That's the plan. I feel I've got the game to."
Collyer's sub-par upset performance was the local standout on a fine day for the NSW men with Dylan Perry ousting recently crowned Victorian amateur champ Cameron John one-up.
Harrison Endycott won 1-up against Japan's Takumi Kanaya, Corey Jones beat England's Bradley Moore 2 and 1, and Austin Bautista thrashed Welshman Jack Davidson 5 and 4.
Leading qualifier/top seed Charles Pilon continued his good form with a 3 and 2 victory over fellow Australian Haydn Barron.
Golf Australian national squad member Brett Coletta had to work hard to shake off gallant 14-year-old fellow Victorian Karl Vilips 2 and 1.
Curtis Luck, Australia's highest ranked amateur, is out, beaten 2-up by South Korea's Je-chang Ryu.
Scot Grant Forrest, runner-up in the 2015 British amateur, led the overseas challenge with a 3 and 2 win against Australian Kevin Yuan.
William Heffernan is through the next round after a 3 and 2 win agains Fred Lee, while fellow Victorian D J Loypur was even more impressive with his 6 and  5 triumph against Anthony Marchesani.

Shot Scope Technologies launch performance
-tracking wearable for golf

NEWS RELEASE
Edinburgh: Shot Scope Technologies has launched a dedicated performance tracking golf wearable using innovative technology which allows the golfer to collect performance data automatically.  Golfers can use either the Shot Scope app or online platform (www.shotscope.com) to gain insights into their golf game and improve.

Today, Shot Scope Technologies has launched an innovative automatic performance tracking wearable for the golf market.  The new technology allows the golfer to collect performance data without using a phone, manually tagging or pressing buttons.
CEO of Shot Scope, David Hunter said “Shot Scope is the 1st system that allows golfers of all levels to track their game with no interruptions; monitor statistics, identify your trends and use the information to make better decisions on the course.

" The wristband interacts with unique tags inserted into the grip of every golf club to identify shots, club used and log GPS information.”
Shot Scope automatically collects over 100 performance statistics.  Information is uploaded through Bluetooth or USB to the Shot Scope dashboard and is displayed in easy-to-consume graphics.  Golfers gain actionable insights which help them to identify strengths and weaknesses in their game.  The technology equips golfers with the knowledge to play to their strengths on the course and work on weaknesses off it.
Shot Scope will be launched to the industry on January 27th at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, USA.  David Hunter commented “The golf world has been extremely supportive throughout the development of Shot Scope.  European Tour golfers, professionals, college golfers, and amateur golfers have provided input into the design and are keen to start using Shot Scope in 2016.”

The golf industry has been quick to realize the potential of Shot Scope.  Providing golfers with technology that doesn’t impede or slow down the game is key to growth in the sector.
“Shot Scope has the potential to revolutionize the shot tracking sector” commented Hoyt McGarity, CEO of True Spec Golf (the number 1 custom fitting company), “being fully automatic is key and it will be a great tool for the golfer to improve and learn about their game.”
Shot Scope Technologies was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland.  From its inception, the one simple aim of the company has been to improve the way in which both amateur and professional golfers collect and analyze statistics.  The Shot Scope team, which consists of technology experts and golfers, including a former Walker Cup player (Gavin Dear), set out to develop smart wearable technology that was more intuitive and comprehensive than any current market offering.  After two years of development, Shot Scope are delighted to announce the pre-sale of the Shot Scope wristband from January 2016 which provides the golfing community with the chance to reserve their wristband ahead of the worldwide launch.
Golfers who are keen to be the first to own Shot Scope can access the reduced pre-order price at www.shotscope.com.  Shot Scope pre-orders will be shipped worldwide in April with the golf wearable expected to be available at retailers from May 2016.
