England clinch title with crushing victory over Wales

Scots beat Irish to avoid wooden spoon in 

Senior Men's Home Internationals

European champions Scotland avoided the wooden spoon in the Senior Men's Home Internationals by beating title-holders Ireland 5.5-3.5 on the final day at Machynys Peninsula, South Wales.
The Scots shaded the morning foursomes 2-1 with one-hole victories by Malcolm Reid and David Gardner, and Ronnie Clarke and David Shields.
Scotland also had the edge, by 3.5 to 2.5 in the singles, with the tail wagging furiously to produce wins by Graham Bell (3 and 2), Ian Brotherston (2 and 1) and Clarke (5 and 4).
England regained the title in emphatic fashion, crushing the challenge of Wales by 8.5-0.5 after taking the foursomes 2.5-0.5 and the singles by a 6-0 whitewash
England won all three matches, Wales won two, Scotland one, and Ireland none.
