ENGLAND HUMBLE EUROPEAN

CHAMPIONS SCOTLAND 7-2

European champions Scotland were brought down to earth with a bump on the first day of the Senior Men's Home Internationals at Machynys Golf Club, South Wales today (Tuesday).
They were thumped 7-2 by England who took a 2-1 edge in the morning foursomes and then over-ran the Scots in the singles, winning five of them.
Ian Brotherston was Scotland's only afternoon winner.
It was also a bad day for defending champions Ireland who were well beaten 6-3 by hosts Wales who took the foursomes 3-0 and shared the singles 3-3.
