Windy weather for Scottish Qualifier at Craigielaw

Matthew Webb "Hammer of Scots" as he 

heads qualifier for Assistants' Championship

Englishman Mathew Webb (Bedlingtonshire, Northumberland) was  the "Hammer of the Scots" today (Wed) at Craigielaw Golf Club, East Lothian where he was the best, by two strokes, of the 17 qualifiers for the Galvin Green PGA assistants championship at Little Aston Golf Club, Sutton Coldfield from August 3 to 5.
Webb, with a round of 70 in very windy conditions, was the only player to get under the testing par of 71.
Joint second were Paul O'Hara (Clydeway Golf), Rodger Clarke (Golf Dedication Centre), Samuel Binning (Mearns Castle) and Marc Owenson (Gullane).
Three players tied on the 76 mark for the last of the 17 qualifying places. Stuart Fisher (Portpatrick Dunskey) won the sudden death play-off with a bogey at the second extra hole against Rory Tinker (Piperdam). Fraser Robertson (Lundin) had been eliminated with a bogey at the first extra hole.
Kirstin Scott (Gleneagles), who had a 78, had a hole in one with a seven-iron at the 147yd 10th hole.
