FROM THE LOTHIANS GA WEBSITE
Turnhouse's Rory Henderson held off the fast-finishing Connor Wilson from Dunbar to top the 2015 Lothians Boys' Order of Merit.
Henderson was a worthy winner, having picked up points in ten of the 13 counting events over the summer.
He shared top spot in the first of those at Pumpherston and also produced strong performances at Harburn, Bruntsfield Links, Uphall and Swanston New.
Henderson's final tally was 447 points, giving him victory by 32 points over Wilson, who sparked his title challenge with a win at Gifford before getting in the points again in the final two events.
Long-time leader Eric McIntosh (Bruntsfield Links) finished third on 348 points while two of Henderson's Turnhouse clubmates, Leigh Lawson and Craig Docherty, ended up fourth and fifth respectively.

Harry Goddard powers to North of

England U16 title
Hertfordshire’s Harry Goddard powered away from the field to win the North of England U16 championship by four shots at Heswall Golf Club.
He scored four-under 68 in the final round to make up a three-shot deficit and to streak away from his rivals.
“I’m still under-15, so this was a good win for me, I was chuffed,” said Goddard, from Hanbury Manor, who was one-under par for 72 holes (Image © Leaderboard Photography).
The joint runners-up were Charlie Wilkinson (Cheshunt Park) and Archie Palmer (Bramhall).
Goddard had to make up ground throughout the championship, having opened with three-over 75, while the early leader, Yorkshire’s Barclay Brown, had scored 69.
“I didn’t get off to a great start, I went par, par, quadruple. But I didn’t let it get to me, I just knuckled down to see what I could do and finished the round three-over,” said Goddard.
The 15-year-old scored one-under 71 in the second round, but was still six shots behind Brown.  “Going into the last 36 holes I just decided to see how many I could pull back. The weather wasn’t great in the morning so one-over was a good score and then I played really well in the last round.”
Goddard, who trains with an England Golf U16 squad, has been closing in on his season’s ambition of a good win.
Earlier this month he was third in the RB German Junior Masters, when he also scored 68 in the last round of the tournament. He remarked: “It gave me a bit more confidence to know that I could shoot that much under.”
His next date is representing England in this week’s U16 international against Wales and then he’ll play in the Italian U16 boys’ championship.
Barclay Brown, aged 14, (Hallamshire) won the U14 boys’ title at Heswall and tied fifth in the U16 event. The girls’ U16 championship was won by Esme Hamilton (Notts Ladies’).

Gouveia becomes highest-ranked Portuguese

golfer of all-time

EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS

Ricardo Gouveia, the Road to Oman Rankings leader, made history last weekend after a runner-up finish at the ROLEX Trophy moved him to 119 in the Official World Golf Ranking, making him the highest-ranked Portuguese player in the history of the game.
The 24 year old has been in imperious form this year, adding his third runner-up finish of the season in Switzerland to a run of form which includes a win at July’s AEGEAN Airlines Challenge Tour by Hartl Resort and five additional top tens, while he has failed to miss a single cut in 14 starts in 2015.
It is a purple patch which has elevated the University of Central Florida alumnus to within the top 120 in the world, beating his compatriot and friend Ricardo Santos’ highest career ranking of 137.
It is an achievement of which the Lisbon-born player is immensely proud, but – true to form – he is not resting on his laurels and just counts these milestones as stepping stones towards his ultimate goals.
“It feels great (to be the highest-ranked Portuguese in history)”, said Gouveia, who plays out of Guardian Bom Sucesso outside the Portuguese capital. “Of course, like I have said before, it was never my goal just to be highest-ranked player in Portugal, it has always been my goal to be the Number One ranked player in the world.
“By playing well and performing well, I will get to my goals so I just have to make sure I keep doing that.
“I am very proud to be Portuguese, I love this country and I do everything I can to represent it well. It would be a great honour to represent Portugal in the Olympics and I think I am currently inside the qualification places for it."

Tartan Tour's 36-hole Order of Merit Challenge

Graham Fox leads charge past early leader

Heather MacRae at Dundonald
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Heather MacRae (Gleneagles) was the early leader with a two-under-par 70 in the first round of the 36-hole Dundonald OOM Challenge but by the end of the day she had been demoted to a share of sixth place in a field of 71.
Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) took over the pole position with a 66, but Heather, who had birdies at three par-5 holes, the third, fifth and 18th, as well as the par-4 12, could still boast that she had the same score as Tartan Tour No 1 Greig Hutcheon (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre).
"It was a fairly stress-free day," said Heather. "I'm just trying to enjoy my golf again.  I thought the course was in great condition and I birdied all the par-5s so that helped."

Fox had seven birdies and one bogey in halves of 31 (five under) and 35 (one under). His only dropped shot came at the 18th hole, a par 5 which cost him a 6.
Earlier he had a run of  five birdies in six holes between the third and the eighth.
Stablemate Paul O'Haara and Pauil McKechnie (Braid Hills) will start the final round one off the pace. McKechnie's 67 was made up of halves of 35 and 32, while O'Hara got rid of his bogeys second and fourth) early in halves of 34-33.
The two players sharing fifth place on 69, Sam Binning (Mearns Castle) and Greg McBain (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) both had double bogeys. Binning ran up a 5 at the short 15th in halves of 34-35 while McBain had a 7 at the long fifth in halves of 37-32.
