ADAM FISHER CRUISES TO VICTORY IN

 

ABERDEEN SCHOOLS' STROKE-PLAY

Adam Fisher, Scottish schools’ Internationalist, representing Cults Academy emulated his success in 2012 by winning the Paul Lawrie Aberdeen Schools’ Scratch Trophy at Murcar Links today. 

In a testing easterly wind, Adam, pictured right, spreadeagled the field with a one over par 72 and a five-shot winning advantage over Ryan McKinnon.  Last year’s champion, Michael Lawrie, was one shot further back in third. 

In his round, Fisher, had two birdies - at the ninth and 17th - but these were negated by dropped shots at the fifth, sixth and 15th.

There was a first taste of success in schools’ golf for Kincorth Academy, when Reece Smith won the Paul Lawrie Handicap Trophy.  Smith was five over at the turn but a creditable two over on the difficult back nine gave him a gross total of 78 and a winning net score of 66.

Sarah Black (Robert Gordon’s College) retained the Paul Lawrie Girls’ Rosebowl with a  net score of 72  off a handicap of 11 and a comfortable winning margin over team-mate, Lauren Watson (6), who is also a Deeside clubmate of Sarah's.

There was further success for Robert Gordon’s College when the Paul Lawrie Schools’ Handicap (13 to 24 Handicap) Trophy was won by Angus Ashley, pictured right, with a net 71 off 24.  Despite a 10 at the difficult 13^th, Angus battled back to beat off the challenge of Brook Smith (Kincorth Academy) and Reece Duncan (Torry academy) to win by 2 shots.
