YOU CAN INVEST IN JAMIE McLEARY'S 2013 SEASON FOR AS LITTLE AS £100

FROM JAMIE McLEARY.
I'm selling 300 shares in myself this season for £100 per share. I'm also giving companies the opportunities for logo placement on my clothing/hat/bag if they buy 30 shares for £3,000.
Very simple. Much the same as Duncan Stewart is doing again. I actually asked him for some advice.
I have full playing rights on the Challenge Tour as well as a couple of co-sanctioned European Tour events. I will be playing approximately 25 events all around the world.
Oman, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Kenya are some of the most far flung events.
Since nearly getting my card in both 2009 and 2010, I understand what it takes to get onto the European Tour and buying into my golf means that people will be backing a proven winner in professional golf (Scottish Challenge and second stage of European Tour qualifying school).
I've been working very, very hard with my coaching team to get ready for 2013 and I feel like this will be my year.
My golf has improved enormously over the last few months and I'm just looking forward to getting going. Unfortunately I couldn't go to India this week, so my first event will be in Kenya in a couple of weeks.
It's a tournament I've played well in before so I'm going down there with my mind fully on winning.

NELSON AND FITZPATRICK JOINT WINNERS IN "BUCHAN BREEZE" BROCH

Professionals Colin Nelson (Mackenzie Shop) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (Inchmarlo Golf Centre) headed a field of 63 in a gale-force wind with an icy chill for the North-east Alliance competition at Fraserburgh.
For good measure, there was also rain so the surprising feature of the day was that there were only 13 No Returns.
Nelson and Fitzpatrick had matching five-over-par 75s to share the first and second prize money  Fitzpatrick had four birdies to Nelson's one but had a double bogey 6 at the 13th.
They won by two shots from  a pair of amateurs, Duncan Clark (Duff House Royal) and Stewart Finnie (Caledonian) on 76.

SCOTS AMATEUR McGHEE JUST OUTSIDE TOP TEN ON MURCIA TOUR

East Renfrewshire amateur Paul McGhee, pictured, finished joint 11th in a field of 24 players at this week's Evolve Pro Tour (formerly Hi5 Tour), the Elle Valle Open in the Spanish south-east province of Murcia.
McGhee had rounds of 73 and 74 for 147 in what was his first appearance in a professional tournament.
Paul was a student at Johnson and Wales University, Miami when he had to return home, suffering from Hodgkins Lymphoma. After treatment, he finished his degree at West of Scotland University.
He is now working with Levante Lebeche in the city of Murcia. They are commercial partners with the Evolve Tour.
McGhee finished 14 shots behind the runaway winner, Florian Fritsch  who headed the final by a commanding six-shot margin after rounds of 65 and 68 for nine-under-par 133
A lady pro from South Korea, Byun Hyun Min finished joint second on 139 with rounds of 71 and 68. She tied with England's Matt Evans (71-68) for second and third prizes.

SCOT JAMES SHARES SENIOR TOUR Q SCHOOL LEAD ON ALGARVE

FROM THE EUROPEAN SENIOR WEBSITE
Scotland’s David James shot a superb round of 66 to join the English duo of Simon Brown and Wraith Grant at the top of the leaderboard on the third day of the European Senior Tour Qualifying School Final.
A commanding performance on the greens moved James to the head of affairs on seven under par alongside Brown and Grant, who both made four birdies in their respective rounds of 68.
James bounced back from an opening bogey at Pestana Golf Resort’s Vale da Pinta course to notch seven birdies, which have put him in pole position to claim one of the six full cards available for the 2013 Senior Tour season.
He said: “I putted very well today, which got me out of trouble. I actually missed two short putts but holed a fair few long ones too, so I’ll need to keep that form going on the greens, because my driving this week has been poor. It’s actually a fairly straightforward golf course, so if you can keep it on the straight and narrow there are plenty of birdies to be had.
“But with the way I’m hitting the ball off the tee, I can’t really afford to relax. I made a few mental errors today, so I need to stay focused on the last day to stand a chance of seeing it through. But my putting gives me hope. If I can somehow start finding the fairways off the tee I can almost guarantee a good round, because the rest of my game is in pretty good working order.”
Brown got off to a flying start with successive birdies from the first hole, before adding another gain at the fifth and then recovering from his only bogey of the day at the 11th with another birdie at the next.
He would have grabbed the outright lead were it not for spurned opportunities on the 16th and 17th holes, but was nonetheless content to settle for a round of 68 which moved him one step closer to securing a debut campaign on the Senior Tour.
He said: “I hit the ball close today, which was good because the pins were in quite tricky positions. Hopefully I can play nicely on the final day – my aim is as simple as that. I’m sure there will be a few butterflies in the stomach, but I’m normally fairly calm on the course, so I just need to stay in the moment and go through my normal processes and routines. I know I’m playing well enough, it’s just a case of getting over the line now.”
Grant echoed those sentiments after shooting his third successive sub-par round to close in on a place in the all-important top six.
He said: “I had to be patient today because my first birdie didn’t come until the ninth hole, and I’d missed a few chances up to then. I didn’t get frustrated because I knew I was playing well and was confident more birdies would come, and luckily enough that’s how it worked out.
“I’ve got the manager of my golf club and a friend who sponsors me out here, so they’ve managed to keep me relaxed and took my mind off the golf. It won’t be easy tomorrow but I’m probably a better player when I’m nervous than when I’m relaxed, because it helps me to concentrate more. I’ve just got to play my natural game and see where it takes me.”
Spaniard José Manuel Carriles and American Robert Thompson currently share third place on four under par after signing for respective rounds of 68 and 71.
A total of 60 players will contest the final round, with the top six players gaining full cards and the next eight securing conditional cards.

ALL SIX SCOTS MAKE IT THROUGH
TO FINAL DAY

All six Scots in the field qualified for the final round of the European Senior Tour Final Qualifying School - with David James from Dumfries the best placed to win one of the six full players' cards for the new over-50s season.
He is in a triple tie for the lead at seven-under-par 206 with Englishmen Simon Brown and Wraith Grant at the Pestana Golf Resort, Lagos on the Algarve.
James' had a red-hot putter which more than compensated for some waywardness off the tee at the Vale da Pinta course.
The Scot notched seven birdies after starting with a bogey.
He said: “I putted very well today, which got me out of trouble. I actually missed two short putts but holed a fair few long ones too, so I’ll need to keep that form going on the greens, because my driving this week has been poor.
"It’s actually a fairly straightforward golf course, so if you can keep it on the straight and narrow there are plenty of birdies to be had.
“But with the way I’m hitting the ball off the tee, I can’t really afford to relax. I made a few mental errors today, so I need to stay focused on the last day to stand a chance of seeing it through.
"But my putting gives me hope. If I can somehow start finding the fairways off the tee I can almost guarantee a good round, because the rest of my game is in pretty good working order.”
Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs Golf Centre) hit top form with a three-under 68 for 215 and he is sharing 21st place.
Deeside's Peter Smith had a 73 for 216 and is in joint 23rd position.
Both men need sub-par final rounds to have a chance of claiming one of the eight conditional players' cards awarded for the players who finish from seventh to 14th after 72 holes.
Terry Burgoyne (71) and Alan Saddington (72) are both on 217 and joint 30th.
Albert Mackenzie had a 72 for 219 and a share of 43rd  place.
A total of 60 players with totals of 221 and better will contest the final round.

VIJAY SINGH UNDER PGA SCRUTINY FOR ALLEGED USE OF BANNED SUPPLEMENT

FROM THE BBC SPORT.COM WEBSITE

US PGA Tour officials are to investigate claims that former world number one Vijay Singh used a banned supplement.
An article by respected American magazine Sports Illustrated  claims Singh admits using "Deer Antler Spray".
It is manufactured by the controversial company Sports with Alternatives to Steroids (SWATS).
In promotional material, the firm claims the substance contains IGF-1, a natural, anabolic hormone that stimulates muscle growth.
The SI report says Singh ordered quantities of the spray last November and quotes the three-time major champion claiming he takes it: "Every couple of hours, every day."
"I'm looking forward to some change in my body," Singh is quoted as saying. "It's really hard to feel the difference if you're only doing it for a couple of months."
There has been no comment from the 49-year-old Florida-based Fijian since the publication of the story. He is due to compete in the US Tour event in Phoenix which starts on Thursday.
US PGA Tour senior vice president of communications Ty Votaw said: "We have just been made aware of the report but we haven't had a chance to review it."
The substance is on the banned list and in 2011 former Open Champion Mark Calcavecchia ended his promotional link with the product after being warned by the Tour.
Singh has won the PGA Championship on two occasions, in 1998 and 2004, and also won the Masters in 2000.

TREE RETAINS SOUTH AFRICAN GAUTENG OPEN TITLE

NEWS RELEASE FROM ENGLAND GOLF

Toby Tree experienced a touch of déjà vu over the weekend when he won the Gauteng North Open Championship in South Africa for the second successive year.
A closing round of 71 for a total of 281, seven under par, saw the England international secure a one stroke winning margin over the fast-finishing Zander Lombard and two more South Africans.
The 19 year old from Worthing found himself four shots off the lead after an opening level-par 72 but he followed up with 67 for 139 and a share of the lead.
A third round 71 for 210 left Tree four behind going into the final round, the lead being taken over by Haydn Porteous with a superb 66.
However, while Porteous fell back with 76 on the final day, Tree responded with another 71 to secure a narrow victory, one clear of Lombard with 67, Porteous and Jason Smith, also with 71.
Leading final scores: 281 T Tree (Eng) 72 67 71 71; 282 Z Lombard (South Africa) 71 75 69 67, H Porteous (South Africa) 70 70 66 76, J Smith (South Africa) 69 70 72 71; 283 T Strydom (South Africa) 69 71 71 72

NORTH ALLIANCE RESUMES AT SPEY BAY ON SATURDAY

By ROBIN WILSON
After a two month break the members of the North Scottish Golfers Alliance get back into action this weekend at Spey Bay golf course with four members out to improve on their already recorded scores in the race for the K M Cameron Trophy.
Leading up to last December two of the eight programmed fixtures were cancelled, due to weather and ground conditions at Boat of Garten and then the shortening day light to enable the large entry get in the 18 holes over the Moray New course at the beginning of December so just just four members have been able to complete the requisite six scratch scores for the aggregate K M Cameron Trophy, John Campbell (Grantown on Spey), Robbie Stewart (Torvean) and Forres pair, Jim Simpson and Robert McKerron.
Campbell leads with a six score aggregate of 433 while Stewart is on 441 while McKerron (444) and Simpson (450) are a bit off the pace but can easily improve if they eradicate their high scoring rounds over the remaining five fixtures in the second half of the season and before the final championship fixture over the Moray Old Course on March 23.
In a position to make up ground as they complete their six scores are two prominent scratch winners from the first half of the season, reigning Alliance Champion, Bryan Fotheringham (Inverness) currently holding a five card total of 347, and Alan Cameron (Fortrose and Rosemarkie) with a four score aggregate of 279. better placed after four than Cameron is the Moray Assistant Professional Andrew Rollo on 276. while  Kevin Thomson (Moray) is also in the picture with 280 from four outings.
There are also two aggregate handicap trophies to be won with six scores. The current leaders of the low handicap section for the W H Burnett Trophy both  come from the Torvaen Golf Club, K Barnett 419 and scratch contender Robbie Stewart whose gross total reduces to nett 421. Coming into the reckoning with five scores are Ian Murray (Boat of Garten), S Johnston (Elgin) 350 and D Thom Grantown on Spey) 353 and with four scores to date Stewart Wilson (Inverness) 273.
The Bill McQueen Trophy for Class 2 handicap members is currently led by L Hutchison (Inverness) 440 and L MacBean (Boat of Garten) 446.
So there is all to play for in the coming months when high scores they can be replaced or improved upon beginning this weekend at Spey Bay and then remaining fixtures through February and March at the following venues -  February 16 Fortrose & Rosemarkie. February 23 Muir of Ord. March 2 Torvean; March 9 Elgin. Scores at the  Championship at Moray Old on March 23 do not qualify for the aggregate trophies.

Paul Shields' investment of $1,000 in the entry fee for this week's $100,000 All-American Professional Tour 54-hole event at Anthem Golf Club, Persimmon in Arizona does not look as if it is going to pay him a dividend.

KIWI MARK BROWN BOOKS A PLACE AT MUIRFIELD THIS SUMMER

FROM THE PGA OF AUSTRALASIA WEBSITE
New Zealand's Mark Brown has eclipsed the course record at Kingston Heath Golf Club as he booked a place in the 2013 Open Championship via the Australasian International Final Qualifying.
Brown shot a 10-under 62, shading the previous course record of nine-under 63 set by amateur Cruze Strange, to earn a ticket to Muirfield in July, along with Australians Steven Jeffress (nine under) and Stephen Dartnall (eight under).
Starting five shots off the pace this morning after an even-par first round of 72, Brown's extraordinary round earned him what will be his second appearance at the Open.
He missed the cut at Turnberry in 2009.
"Yesterday I was a fair way back, so today I wasn't really thinking about it too much - I just went out and tried to enjoy it," Brown said.
"I made six birdies in the first nine, then it got serious and it wasn't so much fun anymore.
"I've got so much respect for the place; it's quite a thrill to hold the course record."
Jeffress, 37, will tee off at his first major championship after a composed round got him over the line.
"It's pretty impressive - it probably hasn't even sunk in yet, it's going to be great, it's going to be unbelievable," Jeffress said.
"I had a number that I wanted to get to; 10 under. I thought if I get to that then it's going to be competitive.
"I had two under around the front nine and then I parred through to 15 which I was pretty frustrated at.
"I said to my caddy that we have to do something here because only the top three gets in and then I birdied 15 and 16."
The other Australian to progress to his first major, Dartnall, recovered from an indifferent start to do enough to get through.
"I started off a bit scratchy actually - I was one over after six then made a few birdies and just played solid from there on in. It wasn't quite as good as yesterday but it was enough, I guess," Dartnall said.
"I have never played a major before so will be a good learning experience, to go there and obviously try and play well."
The 142nd Open Championship will be played at Muirfield from the 14-21 July.

International Final Qualifying for The Open continues in Asia at Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok, Thailand on 28 February and 1 March. IFQ Africa takes place at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club in South Africa on 5 and 6 March. It is followed by IFQ America at Gleneagles Country Club in Texas on 20 May and IFQ Europe at Sunningdale in England on 24 June.
