Jason Bohn's lead cut to three shots in Zurich Classic

Jason Bohn saw his lead trimmed to three shots as the rain-delayed third round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans belatedly got under way.
Heavy rain and lightning at TPC Louisiana had forced the suspension of the second round on Friday with only 47 golfers having played 36 holes and it took the rest of the field, including first-round leader Bohn, until Saturday afternoon to catch up.
Bohn, who was forced to wait until Saturday morning to start his second round, extended his advantage to four strokes after closing with three birdies in a row for a 67. He then went straight back out for his third round and after six holes was back at 12 under, three shots in front of Australian Greg Chalmers and Germany's Alex Cejka.

Englishman Greg Owen opened with a 67 and was bogey free in his second round - and two under for the day - as he waited to begin the 18th before play was suspended on Friday.
He resumed to par that final hole and started the third round at seven under, alongside fellow Englishman Brian Davis, Cejka and American veteran Lee Janzen.
Having got to nine under, though, Owen gave a shot back at the par-four sixth and when play was called for the night due to poor light, the Englishman was eight under after eight holes.
Owen was in a five-way tie for fourth with Australian John Senden, American Jeff Overton and his compatriots Kevin Sutherland and Shaun Micheel.
Davis, runner-up last week to Jim Furyk at the Verizon Heritage having called a penalty on himself in a sudden death play-off, had so far failed to build on his six-under, second-round 66, dropping a shot after six holes to six under.

McLean leads at halfway in Edward Trophy at Glasgow Gailes

Peterhead's Philip McLean, winner of the Leven Gold Medal 72-hole tournament last year, leads the field by one shot at the halfway stage of the Edward Trophy four-round SGU Order of Merit event at Glasgow Gailes Golf Club.

McLean had rounds of 68 and 72 today (Sat) for a four-under-par tally of 140.

That gave him a narrow advantage over another North-east traveller, Scott Larkin (Banchory) and Brian Soutar (Leven Golfing Society.

Larkin, who spent four years on the American college golf circuit, had rounds of 72 and 69 while Soutar followed up a first-round 71 with a 70.

Matthew Clark (Kilmacolm), recent winner of the Craigmillar Park Open and a previous winner of the Edward Trophy is in joint sixth place on 143 after scores of 72 and 71.

Marcus Fraser digs in at top of Ballantine's leaderboard

FROM THE EUROPEAN TOUR WEBSITE
Australia's Marcus Fraser carded a second round 70 to maintain a one shot lead at the Ballantine's Championship on a bright but windy third day at Pinx Golf Club, South Korea
After a bogey-free 65 on Thursday, Fraser dropped his only shot of the week at his penultimate hole today.
But three birdies lifted him to nine under par overall to leapfrog overnight clubhouse leaders Thongchai Jaidee and Tano Goya.
After enjoying a rare day off on Friday, Fraser began his second round in style with a birdie but then could only manage 12 consecutive pars as he missed four birdie chances from inside ten feet.
A lip out with five holes remaining looked to have summed up the 31 year old's day until back-to-back birdies were followed by his solitary bogey after failing to get up and down from a greenside bunker.
"I played very well but just didn't make a couple of putts at the start of the round, but made a couple of birdies at the end of the round," Fraser said.
"I felt like I played as good as I did on Thursday but it was just very tough conditions. It was just so gusty.
"It would drop and come back and it was difficult judging shots into the greens. But I managed to hit a lot of greens and made a few putts when I had to.
"It's a bit weird knowing it's only a 54-hole tournament but I will just give it my best shot and keep playing well and hope the outcome works in my favour."
After nearly seven hours' play was lost on Thursday and forced officials to cut the tournament to three rounds, defending champion Jaidee and Argentina's Goya played almost two rounds in equally testing wind on Friday.
Asian Number One Jaidee, 40, carded a superb second round 67, while last year's Madeira Islands Open BPI - Portugal winner Goya, 21, battled to a hard-fought round of 70 to lie eight under.
They were joined by Northern Ireland’s Gareth Maybin, who compiled a 68 to boost his chances of a maiden European Tour title. He has only dropped one shot so far - a bogey on the par five fourth hole in his second round today.
“Tee to green I have been pretty solid and when I have missed a green my short game has been pretty good,” said Maybin. “All in all looking forward to tomorrow really.”
Brett Rumford also completed a 70 on Friday and was joined at seven under overall by in-form South African Ernie Els and Korea's Ted Oh (70).
Three-time Major winner Els emphatically returned to the winners circle in style with victories at the World Golf Championships-CA Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational this season and picked up a closing birdie for a 69.
Houston Open champion Anthony Kim, who finished third at the Masters Tournament, faces an uphill battle after carding three double bogeys in a 74 to slip seven shots off the pace.

Davis, Owen share overnight lead at TPC Louisiana

FROM THE AOL GOLF NEWS SERVICE
English duo Brian Davis and Greg Owen hold a share of the overnight lead at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans after play was suspended for the day due to lightning and heavy rain at TPC Louisiana.
Only 47 players had completed their second rounds on Friday when play was initially called to halt with a severe weather warning in effect.
Nearly four and a half hours later, play was called for the day after more than 2.5 inches of rain had fallen at the Avondale course near New Orleans, filling the majority of bunkers with water.
Play was set to resume on Saturday, weather permitting, with Davis and Owen having advanced to seven under par for the week alongside Germany's Alex Cejka, American veteran Lee Janzen and first-round leader Jason Bohn, who was yet to get his second round under way following an opening 65.

Davis, runner-up last week to Jim Furyk at the Verizon Heritage having called a penalty on himself during a sudden death play-off, continued his good form with a six-under-par 66 at the 7,340-yard course in Avondale, near New Orleans.
After an opening round of 71 Davis went birdie, bogey, birdie, par, bogey to start his round on the back nine.
He then took four at the par-five 18th to start a 10-hole run that saw seven birdies for the 35-year-old Londoner, chasing his first win in the US and a first title since the 2004 ANZ Championship on the European Tour.
Owen had opened with a 67 and was bogey free in his second round when the hooter sounded with his score two under for the day.
Janzen had already carded a bogey-free 66 while Cejka's 67 was marred only by a bogey at the par-three 17th, his penultimate hole.
One shot back o
n the early second-round leaders and in the clubhouse was Australia's Greg Chalmers, who shot a 68 that included an eagle at the par-five 11th.
