Macaulay and McEwan all
square after 18 holes of
final at Carnoustie

Top seed and favourite Callum Macaulay (Tulliallan) came back from four down after five holes to be all square with Steven McEwan (Caprington) at the end of the first round of the 36-hole final of the Allied Surveyors Scottish amateur championship at Carnoustie.
McEwan won the second, third, fourth and fifth to be four up on the sixth tee.
Macaulay at last got his act together to win the sixth and ninth and recover partially to "only" two down.
But McEwan, picture right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, went three up again at the 11th.
Then Macaulay won the 12th, 13th and 15th before the last three holes were halved.
