SEMINOLE INTERCOLLEGIATE
AT TALLAHASSEE
Scots Lewis Kirton (Louisville University) and Scott Larkin (College of Charleston) finished joint 43rd and 49th respectively in a field of 63 players for the Seminole Intercollegiate golf tournament at the Golden Eagle Country Club, Tallahassee in Florida.
Over a par-72, 7041 course - once rated the toughest in Florida - Scotland youth international Kirton, pictured right, from Oldmeldrum, scored 76, 74 and 76 for 10 over par 226. He had six birdies over the 54 holes but a double bogey 6 at the second in his first round.
Larkin, from Banchory, had rounds of 73, 79 and 76 for 228. He had a total of five birdies but three double bogeys in his second round and one double bogey in his final round.
Jon Curran (Vanderbilt) won by three shots with scores of 70, 68 and 68 for a brilliant score of 10-under-par 206.
Florida State (858) won the team event from Virginia (866) and North Carolina (867). Louisville and Alabama-Birmingham tied for fourth place with 873 in a field of 12 teams. College of Charleston (894) came 10th.
