WEATHER IS THE ONLY WINNER SO FAR
IN CROWNE PLAZA INVITATIONAL

The third round of the weather-hit Crowne Plaza Invational at Colonial has still to be complete on Sunday morning. Each of the three days so far has seen a weather-forced stoppage. Another one on Sunday will cause the organisers major headaches.
There was a six-way logjam for the pole position before even more rain and loss of light ended the day's play early at the Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth in Texas on Saturday.
Scott Verplank shot five birdies in 13 holes late in the day to join fellow Americans Pat Perez, Kevin Na, Arron Oberholser, Ben Curtis and South African Rory Sabbatini in the lead.
They are all on nine under par, a shot ahead of five players including Jim Furyk and overnight leader Tim Clark.
Another group of five including Tom Lehman are a further shot adrift.
Verplank began his round with a birdie on the first and never looked back.
The veteran also picked up shots at the fourth, seventh, 10th and 11th to post a total score of 136 with five holes of his penultimate round to play.
Torrential rain had plagued the first two days at Colonial Country Club, suspending play on both days, and the pattern continued on Saturday.
Twenty-eight golfers had to complete their second rounds in the morning before the third round could start.
And after yet another day of periodic rainfall, the entire remaining field of 70 golfers will have to finish their third rounds this morning.
