SOUTH-EAST DISTRICT OPEN

STEVEN ARMSTRONG SETS CLUBHOUSE HALFWAY
TARGET OF FIVE-UNDER-PAR 131 AT LONGNIDDRY
Former professional Steven Armstrong (Turnhouse), the 2002 tournament winner, posted a five-under-par halfway total of 131 at the clubhouse target in late afternoon on the first day's play in the South-east District Open at Longniddry.
Armstrong had rounds of 63 and 68 over the par-68 lay-out to lead by one shot from teenager Zack Saltman (Craigielaw) (67-65) and Duncan Martin (Alth), third on 134.
The tournament, over 72 holes, ends on Sunday.
