Carmen (14) wins her first Shire match-play tie 7 and 6

Aboyne's 14-year-old Carmen Griffiths, the No 1 seed after topping the Aberdeenshire women's county championship match-play qualifiers at Banchory on Friday, won her first tie, against Lynne Tough (Auchmill), by 7 and 6 today.
Carmen now has a stiff test in the quarter-finals against Sheena Wood (Aberdeen Ladies), winner of the county title a record five times between 1996 and 2012, in the quarter-finals.
Sheena beat Gillian Mackenzie of the host club by 3 and 1.
Former champion Sammy Leslie (Murcar Links) squeezed through to the last eight with a 19th hole win over clubmate Carol Wilson.
