Leading money-winner Forsyth pips Patterson

for Sandyhills pro-am victory

PGA in Scotland leading money-winner Alastair Forsyth (Mearns Castle Golf Academy) scored his sixth win of the season with a five-under-par round of 65 at today's (Sun) Sandyhills Golf Club, Glasgow pro-am.

Forsyth, pictured, had an eagle 3 at the first and birdies at the fourth, sixth, 11th and short 17th in halves of 32 (four under) and 33 (one under). His only bogey came at the 14th.
He won the £1,317 prize, boosting his season's earnings to £12,237, by one stroke from Michael Patterson (Kilmacolm) who also had an eagle (a 2 at par-4 11th) and four birdies but also two bogeys, at the 12th and 16th, in halves of 35 and 31. He earned £1,054.
Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf), who finished joint third on 67 with Neil Fenwick (Dunbar), Gavin Hay (Grantown on Spey) and Chris Currie (Caldwell), boosted the £563 he received for that by leading the S Boyd 1 team to victory in the pro-am team event. His amateur partners were Steven Boyd (handicap 16), Chris Harvey (10) and Ian Wilson (8) and their best ball net score was 14-under-par 56.
Sam Binning and Davie Stein's teams also hit the 56 mark but lost out in a card countback.
Fox, Binning, Stein and the pros with the teams who finished fourth and fifth on 57, Greg Paxton and Keith Grant, all earned the same fee, £155 each.
