White has SGU Merit title wrapped up as Edward Trophy rings down curtain

James White (Lundin), pictured, winner of the Tennant Cup and the North of Scotland open amateur stroke-play this season, will clinch the SGU Order of Merit title this weekend when the last 72-hole event of the domestic season - the Edward Trophy - is played at Glasgow Gailes.
White's two wins have given him a commanding lead over Graeme Robertson (Glenbervie) who scored his first win in last weekend's South-east District championship.
But Robertson is not playing in the Edward Trophy, presumably leaving at the weekend for Slovenia with the rest of the Stirling University squad for the 2nd European university championships.
Kirkhill's Paul Shields, a distant third in the table, is also not playing in the Glasgow Gailes event.
Other tournament winners this season who are playing in the Edward Trophy are Jordan Findlay (North-East District Open), Scott Crichton (Cameron Corbett Vase), Fraser McKenna (Sutherland Chalice), Ross Bell (Leven Gold Medal) and Allyn Dick (Newlands Trophy).
Daniel Kay (Dunbar), beaten finalist in the Scottish amateur championship and having a good run in the Aberdeen Asset Management Northern Open at Meldrum House, is also in the field alongwith players of the calibre of Ross Kellett (Colville Park).
