NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH GOLF UNION
Hugo Dobson (Fynn Valley, Suffolk), winner of the inaugural South East of England Links Championship, is one of three players who will represent the English Golf Union (EGU) in the Finnish Amateur Championship at Helsinki Golf Club from August 11 to 13.
He will be joined by Tom Boys (Royal Liverpool, Cheshire) and Ben Loughrey (Wrag Barn, Wiltshire).

Dobson, 19, a member of the victorious England team in last year’s Boys Home Internationals, won the South East of England Links Championship at Royal St George’s in May. Boys, 19, is also a boy cap having played in the 2008 Home Internationals. A former Cheshire Under 15 and Under 16 Champion, he lost a playoff for the Canadian Junior Challenge in 2008, finished top in the Northern Boys Qualifying in 2009 and was third in this year’s Duncan Putter and equal eighth in the Brabazon Trophy, supported by SkyCaddie, over his home course.

Loughrey, 21, a former Wiltshire Junior Champion, won the South West Colts Championship and the North of England Youths Championship in 2009 and was runner-up in the South West Stroke Play Championship.

This year, he has finished runner-up in the Berkhamsted Trophy, third in the Irish Open Amateur and tied fourth in the Peruvian Amateur when representing the EGU. He also reached the last 16 of the English Amateur Championship at Little Aston.

The Finnish Amateur is played over 54 holes with a cut after two rounds, the leading 36 players and ties going forward to the third and final round.
