England name Under-18 training
squad for 2009

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH GOLF UNION
The English Golf Union has included three players uncapped at any level among the 11 to form its England Under-18 training squad for 2009.
The trio are Scott Campbell from Yorkshire, Suffolk’s Hugo Dobson and Tyrrell Hatton from BB&O. The other eight have represented England at boys or Under-16 level while four were in this year’s Under 18 Squad.
The full Under-18 Squad is:

Campbell, 17, was a member of the Hallowes team that won this year’s Yorkshire team championship. He also reached the quarter-finals of the Sunningdale foursomes with Tommy Fleetwood, the fourth round of the British boys' championship and was seventh in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters.
Dobson, the 17-year-old Suffolk junior champion, finished fourth in the Fairhaven Trophy and seventh in the Carris Trophy.
Hatton, 17, won the recent Faldo Series Regional Final at Walton Heath where he equalled the course record with a 66. He tied ninth in the Berkshire Trophy and was a member of the winning BB&O team at the South-east Group Junior Foursomes.
Bell, 17, was a member of the Under-18 Squad this year and has enjoyed a successful season, winning the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and the South-east Junior Championship. The Kent player was also third in the Fairhaven Trophy and made his debut in the boys' home internationals.
Boys, 17, won four and lost one of his six matches on his England debut in the boys' home internationals this year and led the Carris Trophy after the first and third rounds before finishing ninth. A former Cheshire Under-15 and Under-16 champion, he won the Fairhaven Trophy and lost a play-off for the Canadian Junior Challenge.
Carson, 16, who steps up from the Under-16 Squad, won the McGregor Trophy last year and is the Gloucestershire junior champion. He captained England in the recent Under-16 internationals and finished runner-up in the South-west Junior Championship.
Lewis, 17, was a joint winner of the Henriques Salver after finishing tied third in the Brabazon Trophy and was runner-up in the Fairhaven Trophy. A former Under-16 cap, he stepped up to boys' level in the European boys' team championship and the boys' home internationals. He also represented GB&I in the Jacques Leglise Trophy.
Lloyd, 16, is another to be promoted from the Under-16 Squad. He has enjoyed a successful year, winning the Ernie Els World Junior Championship in South Africa and the North of England under 16 title and was capped at under 16 level against Spain, Scotland and Ireland. Myers, 17, from Northamptonshire, is a former English Under 16 Champion and an under 16 international before being capped at boys level this year. He also won the Dorset Open, was runner-up to Bell in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and finished tied fourth in the Carris Trophy.
Sharpe, 16, from Gloucestershire, was also in the Under-18 Squad this year and is a former English Under-16, 15 and Under-14 champion who has been capped at Under-16 and boys' levels.
Smith, 16, from BB&O, is another former Under-16 international who was capped at boys' level this year. He keeps his place in the squad from this year when he finished tied third in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters, fourth in the Canadian Junior Challenge and lost in the fourth round of the British Boys.
English Under-16 champion Sebastian Crookall-Nixon and Under-14 champion Toby Tree are included in a six-strong Under 16 Squad for 2009.
